Re:wild seeks an experienced, dedicated Senior Development Officer to lead our collaborations with prominent foundations. The primary function is to cultivate significant co-funding partnerships and drive engagement strategies to optimize financial support for partner-based programs around the world; develop and deliver proposals; implement strategy specific to supporters' interests, motivations and giving patterns; and meet and exceed fundraising annual revenue targets. In this role, it is expected that a minimum annual goal of $10 million will be set and funds raised via long-term collaborations with foundations. The position reports to the Director, Strategic Development.
The Senior Development Officer will work directly with Re:wild’s Development team, partners, fiscally-sponsored organizations and Re:wild’s conservation leaders across a global suite of priority geographies and projects. In concert with Re:wild’s leadership and partner organizations, the responsibility of the Sr. Development Officer is to lead collaborative relationships with ~100 top foundation partners, following strategic processes. The role requires excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills. Through fundraising campaigns, collaboration, stewardship, enriching the donor experience, and fostering the ethos and mission of Re:wild, the person will maintain flexibility, adaptability, high quality, and confidence in bringing collaborative support of $1M+ for Re:wild and partners. Foundation stewardship, including creating and editing donor reports according to foundation guidelines, is a critical aspect of this role. Transparent communication and collaboration is required.
Position Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and at least 7 years related experience required.
Experience building and maintaining long-term relationships with prominent funders.
Experience in asking for and closing 6-figure and principal gifts.
Experience in managing and tracking multiple prospects and foundation partners.
Experience working with donor principles and practices.
Experience, coursework, or other training in current and evolving trends in charitable giving, campaigns and principal gifts.
Demonstrated experience collaborating with and supporting program staff in the cultivation and stewardship of prospects and donors.
Ability to design and implement fundraising strategies, including cultivation, solicitation and recognition strategies.
Ability to determine donor’s interests, capacity and potential for helping Re:wild and partners meet goals, and act appropriately to tie those interests with Re:wild’s work.
Demonstrated experience using listening, diplomacy, and tact to build strong relationships and motivate donors and volunteers.
Proven ability to negotiate complex, high profile or sensitive agreements.
Experience in working directly with executive leadership preferred.
Additional details
Travel: Estimate 2-4 international trips per year and domestic travel as needed. The position will require flexibility to work outside of normal business hours on occasion to engage with staff and partners located in different time zones around the world.
