Guardians Program Coordinator

The Guardians Program is a Re:wild-wide program of work that aims to ensure that anyone in a position to protect the planet has agency to do so. Global in scope, the Guardians Program works to cultivate conservation leaders and strengthen local organizations in priority geographies across Africa, Asia, Latin America and North America by developing innovative approaches, scaling proven know-how, and engaging in vibrant, strategic partnerships. The Guardians Program provides nimble, dedicated support and strategic grants to enable the development and implementation across a portfolio of initiatives to cultivate conservation leaders among Youth, Indigenous Peoples & Local Communities, Women, Rangers, as well as Re:wild’s Associate Fellows and our local partners around the world.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Re:wild is seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented, bilingual conservation professional to advance and support the Guardians Program with the development and expansion of key initiatives and management of Guardians grantmaking portfolios. As the Program Coordinator you will play a pivotal role in co-designing, evolving, and advancing the programmatic goals of Re:wild’s Guardians Program. You will provide technical, strategic, and administrative support to ensure successful program outcomes. Working closely with the Guardians Senior Director, you will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, build and manage partnerships, and steward programmatic and grantmaking initiatives to make a lasting impact.

The Guardians Program Coordinator will perform the following and other duties as assigned:

Guardians program coordination

  • Coordinate day-to-day operations of Guardians strategic initiatives and grant programs.

  • Work with Senior Director to support strategic coordination among Re:wild’s regional, programmatic, fundraising, communications and operations teams to facilitate the integration of Guardians Program objectives and activities in Re:wild priority geographies and conservation strategies.

  • Work with Senior Director to support Guardians quarterly Priorities & Monitoring reporting and coordinate inputs into annual impact report.

  • Monitor progress against annual Program objectives, take corrective action as necessary, and communicate status information to all stakeholders on multiple large-scale initiatives with different timelines and teams.

  • Identify learning opportunities and cultivate trusting relationships with colleagues, partners, allies, and donors.

  • Attend meetings with partners and represent Re:wild at meetings and conferences as needed.

  • Ensure all organizational and compliance standards are met.

Communications/Fundraising

  • Develop materials / communications tools about Re:wild Guardians Program that communicate the impact of cultivating leaders and strengthening organizations to a variety of audiences, including helping prepare high-quality presentations, story maps, and data visualizations.

  • Work with partners to compile assets (photos, content) that can help communicate and raise the profile of Guardians success stories.

  • Maintain overview of Guardians fundraising priorities and assist with fundraising efforts (proposals, pitch decks, donor meetings).

Oversight of Guardians Program Grant Portfolios

  • Effectively manage Guardians grant portfolios, working closely with Guardians Senior Director and Re:wild’s operations team to:

    • Support grantees in using Re:wild’s grants management system

    • Build relationships and communicate with portfolio partners to facilitate the grantmaking process and develop strong proposals and budgets

    • Review and assess reports to comply with grant and donor requirements

    • Amend when necessary workplans of grantees to reflect on the ground realities

    • Develop and maintain organizational system for grant documents

  • Support the launch of a new Re:wild Graduate Fellowship Fund in the US.

  • Ensure strategic alignment between grantmaking compliance (including donor reporting), programmatic excellence, and partner needs and goals.

  • Liaise and support coordination with Re:wild’s regional and conservation strategy teams on potential opportunities and partners for Guardians grant programs support.

Re:wild Associate Fellows

  • Working closely with Guardians Senior Director, liaise with Re:wild’s regional and conservation strategy teams to

    coordinate Associate Fellows program re-alignment and expansion activities.

  • Support identification, vetting and onboarding of new Associate Fellows and ensure, track and document that all existing and new Associate Fellows meet organizational and compliance standards.

  • Provide oversight of Associate Fellows small grant program (see also above).

  • Promote and support cross-Fellow networking, knowledge sharing, and learning exchange.

  • With Re:wild communications team, coordinate profile-raising and story-telling to amplify Associates’ impact and advance their professional growth.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Commitment to and passion for Re:wild’s mission, vision, and values.

  • Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of experience in international nature conservation or related field.

  • Familiarity with both US and International organizations, programs and policies relevant to conservation, environmental education, and/or conservation capacity, leadership, organizational development, and knowledge management.

  • Experience and skill at working with different stakeholders, particularly NGO, educational/university, and/or community-based organizations.

  • Demonstrated project management skills and successful experience in developing, directing, and managing multiple projects.

  • Experience with grant management.

  • Excellent written, editing, and verbal communications skills and ability to produce high quality reports, presentations, materials for a variety of audiences.

  • Able to proactively resolve or elevate issues, conflict management, and collaboratively solve complex problems.

  • Persistence and ability to overcome obstacles and to take calculated risks to accomplish goals.

  • Experience advancing complex projects and strategic initiatives in a decentralized, multidisciplinary, diverse and collaborative organization.

  • Spanish language proficiency and international, multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience required.

  • Ability to undertake occasional domestic and international travel and work across time zones.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • This is a full-time, exempt position.

  • Position location is flexible, within the US.

  • Projected salary range of $60-75,000, with the final determination to be made commensurate with the candidate’s experience.

  • Re:wild provides medical, dental, vision, short- and long-term disability, and life insurance, with Re:wild covering 80% or more of the premiums. Re:wild also offers a 403b retirement plan with up to 3% match after a year of employment.

  • Re:wild observes 16 paid holidays each calendar year. Full-time employees can also accrue the following annually: up to 15 days of vacation leave, 12 days of illness leave and 2 volunteer days.
