Who We Are

We have a singular and powerful focus: the wild as the most powerful solution to the interconnected climate, biodiversity loss, and human wellbeing crises.

We protect and restore the wild so all life on Earth can flourish.

Founded by a group of renowned conservation scientists together with Leonardo DiCaprio and combining more than 35 years of conservation impact, Re:wild is a force multiplier that brings together Indigenous peoples, local communities, influential leaders, nongovernmental organizations, governments, companies, and the public to protect and rewild at the scale and speed we need.

How we work

We pursue our mission through our partners, on the ground, at national levels, and globally. The people with the passion, the knowledge, and the community relationships to protect wild species and wild places are already out there. We find them and back them.
  • We focus on the wild.

590+ million acres in active conservation. 36,000+ species.

  • We prioritize partnership.

600+ partners, the majority of which are local organizations, Indigenous Peoples, and communities.

  • We collaborate deeply.

45 coalitions and alliances, 16 of which Re:wild helped start.

  • We take swift action.

Local voices get amplified, resources get moving, and solutions reach the ground before the window closes.

  • We innovate for impact.

Flexible funding, traditional knowledge, and science that has not been tried in this context before.

  • We catalyze conservation funding.

Funders who want to have real impact, meet the people doing it.

  • We advance conservation knowledge.

Open-source data, tools, and expertise, shared freely with conservationists worldwide.

What makes us different

One of the key needs for conservation is to find unity in our efforts to save nature around the world. Re:wild’s mission is to do just that. Our model, with a core set of donors that fund our operational costs thus allowing 100% of all new donations to go directly towards programs around the world, gives us flexibility and adaptability to bring organizations, communities, and governments together around shared goals.

In fact, Re:wild is a unique ‘beyond brand’, in that our organization’s mission is to elevate partners around the world that do not have the funding, communications, marketing, and brand building to receive adequate resources.

Re:wild plays a similar role with other resources, including funding. Re:wild is not a traditional funding organization, in that our goal is to unify funders around larger ‘one plan’ approaches. Our focus on a coalition-based approach allows communities, organizations, and governments to align on larger-scale conservation efforts around the world.
Read Our Ethical Standards

Transparent by design

Re:wild publishes audited financial statements, IRS Form 990 filings, and our indirect cost policy every year. Donors, partners, and the public can see exactly where the money goes. Thanks to a core group of donors who cover our operating costs, 100% of every additional donation goes directly to conservation work with local partners on the ground.

Conservation Partners

Re:wild works alongside more than 600 partner organizations worldwide, from local NGOs and Indigenous Peoples to governments and research institutions who have been protecting their landscapes for years, sometimes decades. We support their work, amplify their voices, and connect them to funding and networks so they can stay focused on conservation rather than infrastructure.
