Habitat Heroes: DIY Backyard Bat House
Experience
We might not always see bats, but you can trust that more than 1,400+ bat species are working hard all around the world each night —eating tons of insects, pollinating flowers, and spreading seeds that grow new plants and trees. More than 100 bat species are listed as Endangered or Critically Endangered globally. These amazing animals face a multitude of threats including habitat destruction, pesticide use, lack of available roost sites, and climate change.
Re:wild x Uncommon Goods have partnered to create a one-hour virtual class led by Andrew Snyder, Re:wild’s Key Biodiversity Area Coordinator, teaching people how to build their own bat house.
Protect the Animals Mugs
Potter and animal lover JoAnn Stratakos created this series of custom mugs to help give endangered animals a fighting chance. She throws each one on her wheel, then hand carves each animal, giving them fantastic detail and texture. Handmade from stoneware by JoAnn Stratakos and company in Effort, Pennsylvania.
