Le Tan Quy earned his master’s degree in Ecology from the University of Science, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City in 2025. He is currently a researcher at the Center for Ecology and Resources, Institute of Advanced Technology, Viet Nam Academy of Science and Technology. His research focuses on the diversity, abundance, and distribution of Viet Nam’s endemic ungulate species, such as the Silver-backed Chevrotain and the Large-antlered Muntjac, in coastal and tropical forests, as well as their tolerance to human disturbance.

Quy currently manages the Silver-backed Chevrotain Conservation Initiative, a locally led, holistic conservation program established by an alliance of national partners (Institute of Advanced Technology, Southern Institute of Ecology, and the Nui Chua–Phuoc Binh National Park Management Board) and international organizations (Re:wild and the Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research). The initiative integrates field research with a captive breeding program to safeguard the silver-backed chevrotain, the only ungulate endemic to Viet Nam and a species highly threatened with extinction.
