Kayla Werner

Kayla is a former U.S. Army officer with eight years of experience in leadership and operations, bringing those skills to her work in conservation. She recently earned a Master of Environmental Management from the University of Hawaiʻi, where her research examined the impact of women’s inclusion in the ranger workforce. She has gained hands-on experience in habitat restoration, marine conservation, and human-wildlife conflict through projects in the U.S., Central America, and Africa. In addition to her field experience, she brings skills in web design and storytelling to support communications and outreach.

Kayla’s interests include empowering women in conservation, strengthening ranger-community relationships, and her newest hobby: researching permaculture design.
