Chester Gan

Asia Program Manager

Chester is a born and bred Singaporean with a lifelong passion for nature and conservation—especially marine environments. Growing up in Singapore’s unique blend of urban and natural landscapes nurtured his fascination with the natural world and inspired him to pursue a career dedicated to protecting it. Outside of work, Chester is an avid diver and hiker who loves travelling to explore the outdoors and experience different cultures. When he’s not out in nature, he also enjoys unwinding through gaming—whether that’s a strategic board game session with friends or immersing himself in a new video game.

Professionally, Chester has worked across a wide range of local and regional conservation projects spanning research, education and outreach, and field implementation. His experience ranges from his early days as a researcher studying elasmobranch supply chains in Singapore, to building transformative partnerships with the seafood industry, and ultimately leading the Ocean Program during his five years with WWF. He has managed and co-developed large-scale conservation initiatives with key regional partners—both within and outside WWF—focused on habitat restoration, species protection, and community empowerment. Looking ahead, he is particularly interested in deepening his expertise in blue and green finance to help design practical, scalable models that channel private capital into impactful, long-term conservation outcomes.
