    Alicia is Re:Wild’s Kawari Fund Manager. In this role she supports the management and implementation of grants of the Kawari Fund.

    Alicia was born in El Salvador. As former REDD+ Regional Technical Advisor for the GIZ for eleven years, she led collaboration with government counterparts, UN agencies, the World Bank, GCF and other international organizations. She provided technical assistance to the 8 countries of the central American region towards the implementation of carbon-based REDD+ and AFOLU activities as well as ensuring the implementation of environmental and social safeguards. During her work with GIZ, she was engaged with IPLC’s organizations and she contributed with the establishment of IPLC’s working groups within the central American region.

    Following this she worked for 2 years at FAO as climate change and environmental safeguards specialist. There, she developed tools to identify risks and mitigation measures as well as tools to report and monitor compliance with environmental and social safeguards for GCF funded projects. 

    In 2021, Alicia was part of the Safeguards Technical Assessment Panel (TAP) of the Lowering Emissions by Accelerating Forest Finance (LEAF) Coalition. She assisted LEAF in the proposal review process to assess the readiness levels of received proposals in compliance with the environmental and social elements of TREES.

    In addition, Alicia is a vetted roster expert from UNDP and Climate Law and Policy.

    She enjoys travelling, hiking, and spending time with friends and family.
