Re:wild Associate Fellowship Fund

Catalyzing the next generation of brilliant and resilient conservation leaders working to rewild our planet.

Re:wild’s Associates are an extension of Re:wild. They are conservation scientists and researchers, educators, policy makers and graduate students – all working to restore and protect the planet alongside us. Re:wild Associates have achieved remarkable successes – including the discovery of new species, the establishment of critical protected areas, and creation of high-impact, local organizations.

Since our founding, Re:wild has directed bespoke support in the form of mentorship, training, small grants and other career-building opportunities to nearly 50 ‘brilliant and resilient' Associates who represent the next generation working to rewild our planet. This invitation-only Fellowship program accelerates Associates’ professional trajectory, expands their professional network, strengthens their leadership, and provides the flexible funding needed throughout their career.

The Re:wild Associate Fellowship Fund has supported:

  • Lucila Castro, doctoral student and executive director of Natura Argentina, to make Ansenuza National Park in Argentina a reality. This new 1.6 million acre national park and reserve now protects Mar Chiquita Lake and the Rio Dulce wetlands in perpetuity, and preserves an extraordinary abundance of water birds for generations to come.
  • Thành Van Nguyễn, doctoral student and researcher, to develop an innovative partnership with local communities to gain new insights into the extraordinary wildlife of the Annamite Mountains that span Vietnam and Laos, including the threatened Annamite Striped Rabbit.
  • Dr. Nikki Roach, policy and communications coordinator at the San Francisco Bay Joint Venture, to participate in the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity in Cali, Colombia and expand women’s access to leadership development opportunities.
