Etty Lau Farrell

From center stage to global advocacy, Etty Lau Farrell merges creativity with purpose. A Re:wild ambassador and visionary artist, she uses her voice to uplift both people and the planet.

Meet Etty!

Etty Lau Farrell is an increasingly rare combination in the modern world: a virtuosic triple threat renowned as a dancer, actor, and singer. The Los Angeles-based polymath might be best known for her collaborations in Satellite Party and the Kind Heaven Orchestra alongside her husband, rock legend Perry Farrell, but her career has been replete with many other highly creative turns.

Born in Hong Kong, Etty and her family moved to Bellevue, Washington when she was 10 years old. Drawn to the arts from an early age, she trained as a classical ballerina through the Royal Academy of Dance, later studying at Pacific Northwest Ballet and Cornish College of the Arts. By the age of 18, she had earned a scholarship to The Edge Performing Arts Center in Los Angeles.
Before she even had a chance to settle into L.A. life, Etty’s career began to soar. There were acting roles and stints dancing with Madonna, Ricky Martin, and Bon Jovi. She was also tapped for the original iteration of the Pussycat Dolls revue, which began at The Viper Room. Then, beginning with 1997’s Relapse Tour, she toured as a dancer with Jane’s Addiction, becoming a staple of their live performances.

By the mid-2000s, Etty’s singing career began to flourish. The Satellite Party record was released on Columbia in 2007, and the following year she displayed bravura vocals on “Go All The Way (Into the Twilight),” one of the singles from the Twilight film soundtrack. As a singer, Etty has long been inspired by great theatrical vocalists like Sarah Brightman. You can hear this admiration for classical technique in the artful way she commands and projects her voice—both on stage and in the studio.

In recent years, she’s become a fixture among the rotating cast of the Kind Heaven Orchestra, collaborating with members of the Foo Fighters and Bon Jovi. There’s a forthcoming remix track with DJ Hyper—an electronic artist signed to mau5trap and Roadrunner Records—alongside plans for other creative partnerships with DJs and producers. Always working closely with her husband, Etty is currently co-producing Perry’s legacy retrospective show, handling choreography, staging, staffing, costuming, and budgetary management.

Beyond the Stage

A philanthropist and generous spirit at her core, Etty is always actively seeking charities to align with. In the past, she has devoted much of her free time to environmental causes. And with the rise in violence against Asian Americans, she has begun to extend herself to nonprofit endeavors on that front. In both her life and art, Etty brings a spirit of kindness and ecstatic energy—projecting an understated power that gracefully complements her outsized talent.
