Laura J. Kay

Outreach And Events Director

B.B.A. in Administrative Management, The University of Texas at Austin and North Texas State University

Laura J. Kay oversees all aspects of GWC events. She leads the development, planning, implementation, and management of all organizational events including GWCs’ Wild Night for Wildlife Gala and Yacht Party Benefit. Laura also works with corporations who support GWC’s programs and initiatives. Prior to joining GWC, Laura has dedicated her life to the non-profit world managing fundraising events, community relations, corporate outreach and volunteer programs. Her passion for animals has led her to a career working with Fossil Rim Wildlife Center, the Animal Trustees of Austin, the Heard Natural Science Museum and Wildlife Sanctuary and Global Animal Partnership. She is proud to have also planned events for CASA of Travis County and Home Hospice of Grayson County.

Laura has been an advocate for animals, both wild and domestic, her entire life. The most magical time of her life was seeing a giraffe calf born at Fossil Rim Wildlife Center, that’s where she discovered her passion for making a difference for both wildlife and conservation. Laura also believes in working for her community. She was on the Board of Directors for DOVIA, HSMAI and the Frisco Community Theatre. She was a founding member of the Grayson County Katrina Disaster Relief Effort, a DFW Tourism Council member, MPI Member and Grayson County Citizen of the Year.

When not managing the details of an event or creating the concept for a new one, Laura loves traveling with her husband and spending time with her three rescued pets. She enjoys entertaining, music, gardening and experiencing all the fun new restaurants in Austin.
